Treatment

Botox at Dr. Harris in Zurich.
Botulinum toxin with Dysport®.

Botulinum toxin type A — known to many patients simply as „Botox" — is a prescription medication used in aesthetic medicine to selectively relax facial muscles. In our practice we use Dysport®, a Botulinum toxin type A preparation by Ipsen.

At Dr. Harris, the treatment is dosed individually and conservatively. The goal is not a frozen face, but a relaxed, fresh expression with preserved movement.

The term „Botox" is often used colloquially for any Botulinum toxin treatment. Medically, however, these are different preparations. We work with Dysport®; dosing and units are therefore planned specifically according to this preparation.

The treatment reduces the activity of selected facial muscles for a defined period. The skin above is folded less strongly and existing expression lines can soften. The effect begins after a few days and typically lasts 3–4 months.

Where Botulinum toxin makes sense — and where it doesn't.

Botulinum toxin is particularly suited to lines created by muscle movement: forehead lines, frown lines and crow's feet. It can also be medically indicated for a strong masseter muscle, nighttime jaw clenching, or excessive sweating.

Lines that remain visible at rest are often also caused by volume loss, skin quality or loss of elasticity. In those cases, fillers, skinboosters, Profhilo, PRP or polynucleotides may be more suitable — or a combination.

The Dr. Harris principle.

A good result is not recognised by the fact that you can see it — but by the fact that no one notices it. This requires a precise understanding of facial muscle anatomy, restrained dosing, and a willingness to top up rather than over-treat at first.

Every treatment is personally planned and performed by Dr. Harris. This is a deliberate choice: Botulinum toxin is a medical procedure with individual indication, anatomy and dosing.

Indication

When it makes sense — and when we advise against it.

Suitable when …

  • expression lines bother you while the skin itself is still elastic
  • the frown line creates a tense or tired expression
  • forehead lines become prominent with every movement
  • nighttime jaw clenching (masseter hypertrophy) is present
  • a gentle, gradual introduction to aesthetic medicine is desired

We advise against it when …

  • pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • acute neurological conditions of the facial musculature
  • known hypersensitivity to Botulinum toxin
  • unrealistic expectations of the result
  • another treatment would be medically more appropriate

Process

How your appointment works.

1
Consultation

We discuss your goals, assess facial expression and — if indicated — plan the individual dosing. CHF 50, credited if treated the same day.

2
Treatment

Approx. 20 minutes. Fine injections in defined zones. No bandage, typically no downtime.

3
Review

The result can be reviewed after about 2 weeks if needed. If individual points appear uneven, a small touch-up may be sensible.

Frequently Asked

Good to know.

How long does the treatment last?

3–4 months, often longer with repeated treatments because the treated muscles remain less active.

Will the result look natural?

Yes — when conservatively dosed. We treat in a way that preserves expression and movement. The „frozen" look comes from over-dosing and is avoidable.

Is the injection painful?

Barely — very fine needles are used. Most patients describe it as a brief prick — anaesthesia is not required.

When does the effect become visible?

First changes appear after 3–4 days, with the full result visible after about 2 weeks.

What side effects are possible?

Usually mild: small bruises, transient headache. Serious complications are rare but, as with any medical procedure, cannot be entirely excluded. All risks are discussed individually before treatment.

Can Botulinum toxin be combined with other treatments?

Yes. It is often combined with skinboosters, Profhilo, PRP, polynucleotides or fillers — depending on whether expression, skin quality or volume is the priority.

What does the treatment cost?

From CHF 250 per zone. Total price depends on the number of areas and dosing. Initial consultation CHF 50, credited if treated the same day.

Is Botulinum toxin right for you?

We discuss your situation first in a short medical consultation — or via WhatsApp if you would like an initial assessment. No sales pressure, with honest indication.
