Second Opinion
on a Check-up

You had a check-up. You were given numbers, arrows up and down, and the sentence that everything is fine. What you were not given is an answer to the question of what any of it actually means for you.

CHF 600 · fixed price · written report

The problem

A check-up measures.
It does not interpret.

Most check-ups deliver a list. Values inside the reference range look unremarkable, values just outside it get an arrow, and the conversation lasts ten minutes. What is missing is the connection: which values together form a pattern, which have to be read differently in the light of another value, and which are entirely irrelevant.

One example that comes up often: a ferritin of 45 is reported as normal by almost every laboratory. If hs-CRP is raised at the same time, that identical value can conceal an empty iron store, because ferritin rises as an acute-phase protein during inflammation. The same number, two completely different meanings — and the difference decides whether someone stays tired for months.

That is the work a second opinion does. Not measuring again. Reading again.

Indication

When it makes sense – and when it doesn't.

It makes sense if …

  • you have had a check-up and cannot make anything of the result
  • you were told everything is normal, but you do not feel normal
  • you have laboratory results spanning several years that were never viewed as a trend
  • you take a list of supplements and do not know whether it still makes sense
  • something has been recommended to you and you would like an independent medical view

Not the right route if …

  • you have acute symptoms — those belong in a regular assessment first
  • it is an emergency
  • you have no results at all yet; a full baseline assessment would serve you better
  • you are looking for confirmation of a view you have already formed
  • you are under active specialist care that should primarily continue there

The service

What you receive.

The review. Every document you have — laboratory sheets, check-up report, previous findings, medication, supplements. Where results from several years exist, we look at the trend, not only the latest snapshot.

The consultation. Around 45 minutes, online or at the practice. Your history, your symptoms, your questions — and the values in context rather than line by line.

The written report. This is the actual product. Every finding weighted: what matters, what needs watching, what carries no significance. Together with target ranges, an assessment of your supplements, and a manageable number of concrete measures in the order in which they make sense.

A clear recommendation on what comes next. Whether a gap should be closed, whether specialist assessment is indicated, whether something belongs under basic health insurance — or whether nothing needs doing at all.

To be clear

What this is not.

  • Not a repeat of your check-up. We do not measure again what has already been measured.
  • Not a speculative new panel. Supplementary values only where a specific gap prevents assessment.
  • Not a sales pitch for supplements. We also assess what you can stop taking.
  • Not a criticism of your own doctor. A second opinion is a second perspective, not an accusation.
  • Not a substitute for an insured assessment. Where one is indicated, we say so.

Process

In four steps.

1
Send your documents

After booking you send your laboratory results and reports. Photographs or scans are fine. Please do not send sensitive documents by WhatsApp — you will receive a secure route.

2
Preparation

The review happens before your appointment, not during it. The consultation time belongs to your questions.

3
Consultation

Around 45 minutes, by video consultation or at the practice at Zurich HB.

4
Report

In writing, usually within five working days. Your document, to keep and to share.

Costs

One price. No add-ons.

Supplementary laboratory values, if indicatedas incurred, stated in advance

This is a private service. You receive an itemised invoice suitable for submission to any supplementary insurance (Zusatzversicherung) you may hold. Whether and how much they contribute depends on your policy and is to be clarified directly with your insurer.

Anything medically indicated is never billed privately. If you come with concrete symptoms, those are assessed in the regular way first — through basic health insurance, subject to your deductible. The second opinion is the step after that, not before it.

If the material you have is not sufficient for a serious assessment, we tell you before you book, not afterwards.

Frequently asked

Good to know.

Can this be done entirely online?

Yes. You send the documents in advance, the discussion takes place by video consultation, and you receive the report in writing. A physical examination is generally not required to interpret existing results — provided there are no acute symptoms.

Which documents do you need?

Everything you have: laboratory sheets, the check-up report, older results, previous findings, current medication and supplements. Photographs or scans are sufficient.

Will blood be taken again?

Usually not. Where a gap is decisive for the assessment, we suggest individual values rather than a new panel. The blood draw can take place at the practice or close to where you live.

Will my health insurance cover it?

No, this is a private service. You receive an itemised invoice suitable for submission to any supplementary insurance. Reimbursement is neither promised nor verified by the practice.

What if everything is fine?

Then that is exactly what the report says, with reasoning. For many people that is the real reason for seeking a second opinion — the conclusion that nothing needs doing is itself a result.

And if I want to go further afterwards?

Then a full baseline assessment is the next step: a laboratory profile across metabolism, cardiovascular risk, hormones and cofactors, with a detailed report. We discuss that if it follows from the second opinion — and only then.

You already have the numbers.

What's missing is the interpretation. CHF 600, fixed price, written report — online or in Zurich.
